Abstract: In order to study deeply the mechanical characteristics of assembled base structure of asphalt concrete pavement, the finite element software ABAQUS is used to simulate respectively the effects of concavo-convex fitting and plate-block side length on the mechanical characteristics of assembled base under dynamic loads or under the static load. The results show that the maximum vertical strain value at the bottom of the base course of the asphalt concrete pavement will be minimum when the plate-block side length is 1.5 m. After the concavo-convex connection is set, the strain at the bottom of the board will be further reduced and the cooperative working ability of the assembled base layer can be enhanced. In addition, the study shows, however, that the assembled base structure with and without connections can meet the requirements of maximum vertical strain and maximum horizontal tensile stress of the bottom of the board.
